Hi! We’re Emily and Nikki — homeschooling mamas and the heart behind The Schoolyard. At The Schoolyard, we believe in whole-child movement that is playful, purposeful, and rooted in connection. Inspired by our homeschool beginnings and growing with intention, we create resources that support physical development, brain-body integration, and joyful daily movement. Whether you're learning at home, in a classroom, or in a therapy setting, our tools invite families and educators into a rhythm of living movement — one that nurtures every kind of learner and brings life to the everyday.

Who We Are
We’re two moms who believe purposeful movement is a vital part of a living education. Together, we created The Schoolyard to inspire families to delight in daily motion — from giggles in the grass to drills at the desk. With hearts rooted in Charlotte Mason’s gentle wisdom and a love for joyful learning, we’re here to help you bring movement to life.

Meet Nikki
Hi, I’m Nikki — a certified secondary education and physical education teacher, former coach, and current Charlotte Mason hybrid school educator. I teach Swedish Drill as part of our school day and love bringing purposeful movement into the rhythm of learning.
Growing up, I was a competitive athlete, playing both volleyball and softball throughout high school. Sports were a big part of my life, and that love for movement has never left me. I’ve always believed that physical activity is about more than just strength or skill — it’s about shaping the whole child: body, mind, and heart.
Now, as a teacher and homeschool mom, I’m passionate about helping families experience movement as a joyful, meaningful part of their day — whether it’s a simple drill or a full-on game in the backyard.

Meet Emily
Hey y’all, I’m Emily — a lifelong athlete, weekend registered nurse, and weekday homeschool mom. I’ve been blessed to play at some of the highest levels of sport, including Division 1 college soccer, where I earned my degree in Exercise and Sports Science. I later went on to earn a second bachelor’s degree in Nursing and now work as a full-time RN on weekends so I can be home to homeschool my kids during the week.
Movement has always been a huge part of my life — not just for physical strength, but for building focus, confidence, and connection. I deeply believe in the power of purposeful movement to grow both brain and body, and I’m passionate about helping kids fall in love with lifelong activity. Whether it’s through a game, a drill, or a joyful wiggle break, I’m here to champion living movement for every child.
